Thatched Cottage

This garden was quite literally a revelation. I first had to find parts of the garden swamped by enormous thickets of bamboo and brambles. Normally I advocate agreeing an overall concept plan before any work is undertaken but here it was necessary to clear simply to be able to survey the space!
The brief from the clients was to create a hardworking but beautiful space for the family and their two dogs. The far end of the garden has mature walnut, ash and horse chestnut trees so the design flowed from the formal to the wild. Cambridgeshire clay pavers were selected for the two terraces to complement the aesthetic of the thatched cottage whilst at the far end of the garden a bark chip path wends through the trees.
